Following our successful dry run to Fanning Springs (see previous post), Jeremy and I were ready to head to North Carolina to hike the Carver’s Gap to 19E portion of the Appalachian Trail.

Backpacking Trip to Fanning Springs – June 9 – 10, 2013

IMG_0343Following our trip to Asheville in May (see last post), I knew I wanted to explore North Carolina further.  What better way, I thought, than to hike the Appalachian Trail.  So, the plan was hatched to hike the 15 mile stretch from Carver’s Gap to Highway 19E later in July.

Asheville, North Carolina May 4 – May 8, 2013

The purpose of going to Asheville was to begin exploring North Carolina.  We knew at the outset that the weather forecast predicted rain for the entire 3 days we planned to be there, but we were still hoping for some great photo opportunities.  Plus, it would give us an opportunity to look for great locations we could return to in the fall.

Of course it was raining the first day of our visit, so we decided it would be a perfect day to stay inside and visit the Biltmore Estate.

Our First Photoshoot – Marathon, FL February 2013

Our first photography mission was to Marathon, Florida in February 2013.  We had recently purchased new camera equipment and were looking forward to capturing gorgeous sunrise and sunset photos!

group_heading_to_keywestAs this was our first trip we invited  two friends, Michelle and Steve to come with us. The plan was to shoot pictures  in the morning and evening and then spend the rest of the time touring Marathon.   Additionally, we planned to swim with the dolphins at the Dolphin Research Center in Marathon.

We took a Cessna 172 from Gainesville to Marathon.  With four adults and fuel, the airplane was close to its maximum weight capacity, so we shipped all of our clothes and equipment to Marathon ahead of time.
