San Francisco – Hiking the Lands End Trail
I had a long layover in San Francisco a few months ago and needed some exercise to help me sleep in preparation for the all-nighter back to Newark.
I had hiked part of the Lands End Trail on a previous layover and thought it would be a perfect day activity to hike the entire trail.
Google Maps showed I could start my walk at the Legion of Honor, continue southwest to the Cliff House and then reverse my course along the Coastal Trail, merging with the Lands End Trail and concluding at Eagle’s Point. From there I planned to walk along the streets to Baker Beach. The total distance was a little less than 5 miles.
After gathering my camera and backpack, I headed downstairs and used the Lyft app on my phone to arrange a driver to take me from my hotel in the Financial District of San Francisco to the Legion of Honor. It took about 25 minutes to arrive at the Legion of Honor.

After completing the trail I walked along El Camino Del Mar, Sea Cliff Ave, and Lincoln Blvd to Baker Beach. I arranged Lyft to pick me up at Baker Beach and returned to the hotel.
