Amsterdam February 2016
My recent trip to Amsterdam left Newark around 5:30 pm, Feb 4th, 2016 and arrived in Amsterdam the next morning at 6:30am.This was my fifth visit to Amsterdam so I didn’t need to consult with the concierge. After a nap, I grabbed my camera gear and headed out.
The temperature was in the low 40’s with a light drizzle.
Here is a map showing where the following photos were taken. Our layover hotel is the Crowne Plaza Amsterdam City Centre. Leaving the hotel I walked to “De Oude Kerk” then to the Royal Palace. From there I went to Rembrandt’s house (Museum Het Rembrandthuis) then back to the hotel.
De Oude Kerk, Amsterdam. The oldest building in Amsterdam built around 1213. More information is available at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oude_Kerk,_Amsterdam.

Rembrandt’s Art cabinet
According to a plaque on the wall,
“This is where Rembrandt kept his collection of objets d’art and rarities. Arranged on shelves around the walls were innumerable rare objects, many of which came from distant lands. Rembrandt collected seashells, corals, dried animals and exotic wepons. There were busts of Roman emperors, Venetian glassware and a terrestrial and a celestial globe. The room was a world of art and discovery in miniature. Rembrandt’s ‘art books’ were his most prized possession. He kept some 8000 deawings and prints by famous artists in these albums.”

This is a canal across from City Centre. I took a night picture from here last summer (the next picture).
The same canal.
I then returned to the hotel completing another wonderful day in Amsterdam.
